EASTER: REVELATION & CELEBRATION

EASTER: REVELATION & CELEBRATION

Alleluia! The Lord has risen from the dead. He is alive. Easter is the great feast for all us Christians. Because of Jesus’ resurrection our faith continues to exist. Today, the eternal light won the darkness. Death was defeated by the resurrection of Christ. Christ paid the debts of sins that were opened by Adam. On this day the people of Israel were set free from slavery. Today, all people in the world are set free from sin through His resurrection.

Easter is a revelation of God’s mystery. It is vividly seen in the lives of Jesus’ disciples. When they were with Jesus their eyes were blinded and did not understand what he had said. It is on Easter Sunday that the disciples understood who Jesus was, “till this moment they had failed to understand the teaching of scripture, that he must rise from the dead” (Jn 20:9&10). Everyday Jesus spoke and ate with his disciples. But, on Easter Sunday before he could appear and speak to them they believed in his resurrection.

This is a celebration of our faith. According to Luke’s gospel those who went to the tomb early in the morning did not see Jesus but empty tomb. By looking at that empty tomb they believed that Jesus is raised. Peter believed by seeing the empty tomb. “He bent down and saw the binding cloths but nothing else; he then went back home, amazed at what had happened” (Lk 24:12). Faith begins from emptiness.

In our life God comes to us in various ways. At times we don’t acknowledge His presence. We seek for signs and proofs. His presence cannot be proved rather it is a mystery to be comprehended. It is not He who reveals His presence but, it is our faith which reveals his presence in our lives. Our faith has to begin from emptying our hearts. When one believes in emptiness will experience great things. This revelation is celebrated as Easter.

Happy Easter!
