MAKE HIS PATH STRAIGHT

We are in the second Sunday of the Advent and we light the candle of peace. Today’s readings also invite us to seek forgiveness for our sins and have peace. Jesus came to bring peace. The voice that was crying in the wilderness proclaimed the forgiveness of sins. That voice invited the people to get reconciled with God. This was already foretold in the book of Isaiah where we hear that messiah would come to solve everything. Thus, prepare the way and makes his paths straight.
In the Gospel we hear that, which is also repetition from the book of Isaiah, “the valleys will be filled and the mountains be made low. The crooked will be made straight and the rough paths smooth…” this shows that everything will be put in an order. Whatever is misplaced or dislocated will be put in proper place by His Coming. The mountains which will be made low is not a physical mountain, rather it refers to a people of proud and selfishness. They will be brought low. The people of humility and alienation will be raised high. This exactly happened in the history. When Jesus came into the world, the mighty people-the Pharisees, Sadducees and some Jews-were ashamed because of their pride. Due to which the salvation was passed on the gentiles.  Today, every human being is able to see the salvation of God.
We as followers of Jesus, waiting to celebrate Christmas. To celebrate Christmas meaningfully we need to make our ways straight. All our crooked thinking and false promises should be put to an end. Jesus came to make everything straight. He brought Love to humanity through which he established peace. With love he reconciled the whole humanity. Before His coming, the humanity was in mess. With and after His coming, the humanity learned the art of living i.e, live in love. We need to love others with our whole heart. We need to get reconciles with the people. This is the best way to prepare for Christmas.
This second Sunday of Advent invite us to experience peace. This will make the paths Straight for Jesus to enter into our hearts.
